Just a quick note to all this morning. No word yet on the insurance, so keep that little matter on your prayer list today! I am actually feeling much better off of the medicatin (I am not really surprised, actually feel better than I have felt in a few weeks. Contine to have difficulty with the vision, but no worse than it has been for a while, yeah. I am going to look at possibility of getting stronger contacts.......never know if that will help or not, but want hurt. I have waited, not knowing for sure what was going to happen with the medication......but will just forge ahead!) After I lost my reading glasses for over a day.......I got a little desperate and decided it was time to act! I did find the glasses finally, just one of those curious things that make me laugh now, but not at the time.
Although I do not do hallowen, I do candy, cookies and birthday's.....and we are having several celerations....Roger's sister will be 80 tomorrow and we celebrate with her.....she wanted a party at the Senior Center....where she still works! Theresa......my little sister is older than she is suppose to be (for me)....but still able to keep up with the teenages! Nov. is a party month for our family....so you will be hearing more.
Love to all. Thanks for your prayers and continued support. Remember that God is Good.......All the Time and All the time...... God is God.....every day. Marlene

Trials
and possibly tribulations? :) Wanted to touch base with everyone who is still hanging in there with me on the Blog. I trully do appreciate you continue to be there for me. Every day is one day at a time and many days the energy level is low. The past month I partcipated in a clinical trial, however improvement was not shown and the Dr. pulled me out of it. I was very glad, because I suspect part of the se may have been from them......I don't mind side effects if they are helpful, but not crazy about them otherwise.
We are persuing the treatment that has been recommended as the best illness, from the beginning but it is not FDA approved so I have not been able to get it. We are both trusing that the treatment, the timeing and the results will be approved by the insurance......though it has been turned down x3. I ask all of you prayer warriars to please keep us in your prayers as we try again to get approval and for this treatment combination to be a be effective.
Thank you for your support.......we continue to be awed by God goodness and His mercy. WE know his timing is perfect and He his good.....All the time. Marlene

Trips
Greetings to all this weekend. Wanted to let you know that I did make the 2 planned trips for the week. Thanks to my friend Carol, I was able to go to Marion to the District office and visit with staff. I was so glad to see everyone and hope to see others in the near future. I have a "plan" to get around to see everyone soon! It was even great to talk about Flu vaccine for a little while.....HONEST. We made a stop in Wash. Co. I was very sorry not to see everyone, but hope to be back in the area very soon.. Plans for a short trip to Bristol next, but will probably be a couple of weeks. Unfortunately my stamina and energy goes pretty fast.....but it is ok, I am biding my time and perservering!!
My other road trip was on Saturday, to Laura's in Roanoke. Patti and I went to the Vinton War Memorial Gala Extravaganza (Ribbon Cutting ceramony and ball). I was so very excited to be able to attend with both my daughters and it was so wonderful to see all of Laura's work come together so beautifully. (and to meet everyone and hear the wonderful compliments for her work) It was truly a sepectacular event, very successful!! Needless to say we were proud of her and as I said, I was go very very glad, and thankful to be able to attend. I actually did very well and enjoyed it such that I stated longer than I had planned..... the music and food were excellent. It was Great! It is always wonderful to spend time with my girls and we (and Eric)had a great time. If any of you are in the Vinton area, please drop by and see the ball room and renovations, they will be having open house for the next 2-3 weeks, but of course you can stop by any time..
We returned (a little late) last night so I will have 2 days of rest before my return to C'ville this week and I am keeping an open mind for other weeks activities!! I continue with my perserver and get up and move plans. Hoping that each of you are having a good weekend with family.
Thank you all for continuing to keep us lifted up. Praying for continued improvement with fatigue, tiredness and for ability to deal with the vision symptoms which continue to "come (pretty frequently) & go". Will be back in touch soon. Remembering that God is Goood........All the Time......and All the Time.....God is Good. Love, Marlene & Roger

Oct 1
It is hard to believe that today is Oct. 1.
I received my first treatment of the new medicaiton on Wednesday. A fairly long day, but everything seemed to go well. Roger and I returned to Gate City later in the evening. Thursday I was totally wiped out, very tired, with no energy. Gradually the energey level has increased and yesterday I began walking 1-2 miles again. Fatique is the primary side effect so far. I will be thankful if that is the only big side effect I have. I am continuing to try to pace myself, resting frequently, but trying to stick to a plan of physical and mental activity.... moving forward.
My nursing school friend who lives in Maine flew in to spend a night and day with me this weekend, and it was wonderful to just visit with her!
Still hoping to see you soon......
Remember that God is still in control, and that He is Good..........All the time, and All the time, God is good. Love to all Marlene & Roger.
