Count Down has begun

Laura assured me that I should write a note tonight, that it would not be too boring. The treatments began today. Radiation was approx. 40 min. and they assured me if I could survive lying still that long, the rest of it will be a breeze, only around 10 min. I survived, without difficulty. A friend who recently had treatment with a mask told me to think of being wrapped in God's warm blanket, and that worked well for the time I was in it. Of course it is too soon to expect anything :) so Roger and I walked our 30 minutes tonight and I am going to take the chemo and go to bed! I will tell you all one thing to make you smile and make me proud. Tomorrow Linley is having 10 " of her beautiful blonde hair cut for "Locks of Love". She has let it grow for almost a year to be able to do that. Her Mimi is very proud of her! Have a great day and may God Bless each of you.

Love,
Roger & Marlene

Linley's Aunt La and uncle Eric are also very proud of her! No big surprise that she takes after her Mimi and her mother and wants to make a difference! Mom, I am proud of you too for taking the first big step and making it through so bravely! Death to Fredriko-Cooper!!!

Love to you and Dad!

This Jackie,
I am so glad that everything is going well so far for you. I love the image of God's warm blanket. Steve, Brad, and I will be going to Williamsburg on Sat. and we thought that we might stop by and see you if that is OK. Please tell me if it is not. We will be coming back home on Wed. if that would be more convenient. Love, Jackie jsbrown52@hotmail.com

Hi Marlene... This is actually Tanya! I am glad Laura talked you into posting a message. First thing every morning when I come in, I turn on my computer, get my coffee, and then have my morning coffee with you! Sounds like your first treatment went really good (as will the rest of them). I am keeping everyone without a computer connection updated and they all send their love and prayers your way (as do I). I can't wait to see Linley's new do! Might inspire me too! Bill just came in and said he wishes you well and God Bless you and Roger!

Marlene, I am so glad that you have posted your blog. Henry and I pray for you and Roger daily. Just wanted to share something with you that I had stored in my files and came across yesterday. Do not be afraid or discouraged,"the battle is not yours but God's" 2 Chronicles 20:15. Our God is a mighty God and He will be with you during your healing. Marsha

Marlene - I am also glad you posted a message because it is a blessing to just know how things are going.
May God keep His warm blanket wrapped tightly around you throughout all your treatments. Roger, may you also feel His warm embrace.
Be assured that Bobby is watching out for everything at your house (now you have something to worry about!!)
Love you both!

Hey Marlene, I have never seen a blog much less write on one, it is amazing what we do for the people we love. It sounds like you and the Lord have everything undercontrol. You lying still and Him in the drivers seat, pretty good combination. I know when I had my radiation I was only in the room for a couple of minutes, but had several different position, and in each position I would try to say the 23rd Psalm. Sometimes I would get it said twice, sometimes my mind would wonder. Sometimes I would sing it to myself. I was wondering if you have a favorite song or verse or songs or verses and try to remember these while you are lying there. It gave me great comfort knowing the Lord is my Shepherd, and He allowed me to lie still in green pastures, and He prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies, through it all He was there with His rod and staff. It has been almost 7 years. I know this sounds foolish, but I would not take anything for the experience I went through just to feel His loving arms around me and carrying me where I needed to be. I can just hear Pete saying,"Marlene don't worry, God is in control". Love you bunches, Martha Nell

Hey Marlene, sounds like you are dong great. Why should I be surprised. Energy level does diminish during radiation but I promise as soon as it stops you will begin gaining your strength back. the hair will come back, black and with no gray, (har-de-har-har. Or maybe blond with no gray, what ever you want. You are doing great. Those are minor things that time will take care of. Glad you have a song, don't ever quit singing. I am praying for you everyday and tickled to death you are on the count down. Much Love and yest God is good, all the time.

Hi,hope you are warm up that way. It was 14 in Auburn last night and 18 in Hurtsboro. That is really cold for us. I am glad you are continuing to gain strength. Hope you got my letter. Sounds like everyone has you undercontrol. Much love, Martha nell
